HBSC and AHKGA Join Forces for Youth Physical Activity

The Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study’s Physical Activity Focus Group (PAFG) is delighted to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA). Effective from 1st October 2023, this strategic alliance is a testament to our shared mission of advocating for and fostering physically active lifestyles among our youth.

Shaping a healthier tomorrow

Low levels of physical activity among adolescents have long been a global concern. Our collaboration aims to address this by leveraging the strengths of both organisations. The combined efforts are directed towards:

Unified voice for advocacy: Advocacy is more effective when done collectively. Together, we form a powerful platform to influence global decision-makers when calling for policies, programmes and practices that boost youth physical activity.

Shared knowledge and insights: Knowledge is power. By combining our data, insights and networks, we can learn from and empower each other to more effectively disseminate key research findings.

Strengthened research capabilities: By combining resources and expertise, both organisations will better equip researchers, educators, and health professionals globally, driving more effective interventions and campaigns.

Collaborative endeavours: Our partnership isn’t just about brainstorming. From joint grant applications to research publications, we are geared up to take action, ensuring that our insights translate to tangible benefits for the youth.

What this means for the global community

This partnership is more than just a formal alliance. It’s a commitment to the global community, promising evidence-based interventions, more informed strategies, and a genuine drive to create environments that nurture active habits in children and adolescents.

A Brighter, healthier future

As we step into this promising partnership, the overarching vision is clear: a world where every young individual is empowered with the knowledge, environment, and motivation to lead an active, healthy life. The combined strength of HBSC and AHKGA is set to make this vision a tangible reality, heralding a brighter, healthier future for our youth.
