The Excellence in Pediatrics 2023 Conference, currently underway in Paris, serves as a vital forum for the exchange of ideas and advancements in child and adolescent health.
Jo Inchley, the International Coordinator of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study, is not only co-chairing the event but also delivered a keynote on ‘The health of adolescents in Europe and Canada: recent trends and emerging challenges’ during the conference’s opening plenary. Her presentation highlighted critical issues and trends impacting adolescent health today.
HBSC speakers are also prominently involved in two key sessions in the special adolescent medicine track of the conference programme.
Emmanuelle Godeau will present in the ‘Risk Behaviours’ session on Friday, December 1st, offering the latest insights on addictive behaviours among adolescents. This session will discuss the patterns of adolescent substance use from 2018 to 2022 and their broader implications for clinicians and policymakers.
Alina Cosma will present in the session on ‘Mental Health” also on Friday, December 1st, focusing on the status of adolescent mental health and exploring the roles of gender, age, and social inequality, as well as discussing trends and potential causes behind these mental health patterns.
